I am adding a blog space to share reflections and possibilities about including students in your higher education classrooms. Topics may be wide-ranging (disabilities? compliance vs. inclusion? building “incubation” spaces?), and I’m open to ideas and suggestions!
Did you know? I am starting a community on inclusive teaching and learning, especially for instructors "in the margins" themselves, and working with such students, as we enter a post-pandemic teaching world. This community will serve as a studio (aka: lab, workshop, pantry, hot shop, foundry - insert your creative and collaborative venue of choice) for instructors to create more inclusive -- and less overwhelmed -- teaching spaces, on their own terms.
It's free for life for my "founding members." I'm seeding the community with members who are 1. already in my network and who like to talk about such things, and 2. people I have worked with already. For now, it's a "secret" Mighty Networks community - I am intentionally not opening it to the masses at the moment. This simply means you need an invitation to join. I'm only sending invitations to individual people once - this is a no-spam space.
I envision connection and collaboration that is: 1. Separate from institutional power structures, 2. Solution and agency-oriented, and 3. Focused on increasing access, inclusion, equity, belonging, and justice in all teaching spaces. If you’re interested in participating, feel free to contact me via the contact button on this website for an invitation to this community.
I’ll end with a question: As your spring semesters come to a close, what are you most hoping for re. this summer and the space between now and returning to teaching this fall, as we enter a “post-pandemic” (???) higher ed world?
